TŰ-RÉS-HATÁR | ZÁGRÁB

55 kortárs textilművészeti alkotás látható Szombathely és Budapest után most először külföldi helyszínen – Zágrábban – a VIII. Nemzetközi Textilművészeti Triennálé legkiemelkedőbb munkáiból válogatott tárlaton.

A Liszt Intézet Magyar Kulturális Központ Zágráb galériájában október 6-án nyíló kiállításon még együtt láthatóak a Nemzetközi Textilművészeti Triennálé öt nagy kategóriájának alkotásai, mivel a 2027-ben megrendezendő IX. Nemzetközi Textilművészeti Triennálé kategória szerkezete megújul. A zágrábi Textilművészeti Triennálé Válogatás címet viselő kiállítás 2026. október 6-tól november 3-ig várja a látogatókat.

A Zágrábi Textilművészeti Triennálé Válogatás kiállítás 2024-ben Szombathelyen bemutatott TŰRÉSHATÁR | TŰ–RÉS–HATÁR tematikájú, VIII.

A megnyitó időpontja: 2026. október 6. kedd 19:00

Exhibition of Selected works of the 8th International Triennial of Textile Arts Hungary in the Gallery of the Liszt Institute Hungarian Cultural Centre Zagreb

Following Szombathely and Budapest, 55 contemporary textile artworks will be shown in Zagreb for the first time abroad – featuring an outstanding selection of the 8th International Triennial of Textile Arts Hungary. The exhibition offers a final opportunity to review artworks of the 2024 triennial’s five major categories displayed together. The exhibition is titled Selection from the Triennial of Textile Arts Hungary and it will welcome visitors from 6th October 2026 to 3rd November 2026.

As the next triennial in 2027 will be reborn with a modified structure this exhibition serves simultaneously as a retrospective overview, a ceremonial overture, and a fitting conclusion.

Tension Between Material and Ideas

The exhibition Selection from the Triennial of Textile Art presents a curated selection from the 8th International Triennial of Textile Art—originally first presented at Szombathely Gallery in 2024 under the theme TOLERANCE LIMIT | NEEDLE–GAP–LIMIT (TŰRÉSHATÁR | TŰ–RÉS–HATÁR). Its central question asks: where the limits are? How much and what can material and humanity endure, and when do we step into the realm of something new? The selected works uncover personal and global tensions; across multiple pieces, the artists pushed both their own physical boundaries and the technical limits of their materials, infusing their creations with deep inner, social, and conceptual content.

The triennial’s motto attracted works spanning the broadest professional and artistic spectrum—ranging from traditional mediums to renewable and alternative raw materials, as well as unique individual techniques.

In her opening remarks, Orsolya Hideg emphasized that “art has to take the social responsibility; it should not merely reflect an idealized world but also shows portray the hardships of human life.” Cultural attaché Beáta Siklósi noted that “the exhibition’s theme is provocative, yet it encourages us to reflect on how much both materials and people can endure, and where the boundary of new beginnings lies.”

An Inspiring Sampling

The 2024 Triennial received submissions from 29 countries across five continents. A total of 505 professional artists entered, from which the jury selected 262 works by 214 creators. Out of these, 69 selected pieces are now on display at the Gallery of the Liszt Institute Hungarian Cultural Centre Zagreb.

The Zagreb showcase features 15 textile pieces in the Wall&Spacial Textile Art category, 12 in Textile Design category, 16 in Miniature Textiles category, and 9 in Ribbons category and 3 artworks in Flag category.

For the invitation of the Institute, Mate Marić – curator and head of the Museum of Arts and Crafts Gallery – delivered opening remarks at the exhibition, which was also attended by Mladen Kršnjavi, Deputy Director of the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb. The exhibition at the Liszt Institute was also attended by the renowned Croatian guest artist Ivana Marčella, winner of the Grand Prix at the 61st Zagreb Salon of Applied Arts and Design.

This exhibition is as much about technical feats as it is about the freedom of thought. In the 21st century, as questions of identity, sustainability, and human limits become more pressing than ever, textile art both follows and shapes the ongoing social dialogue.
